Sunset and the Railing of Death

The cats were contemplating the 15' fall to the floor below while facing off over the best spots on the railing. So far neither one has fallen, but poor Tommy is so fat I'm afraid if he did fall it would be like a watermelon hitting concrete. Also had a terrific sunrise this morning. Great stuff to wake up to. We're finally getting a little bit settled but it still feels like we're living in a hotel. Only about 25% of the boxes have been unpacked so far. I can't believe how long it takes to unpack everything. Oh well, keeps us busy.

Finally Moved - Sort of

Well, we finally moved to the Reno home. But, except for the furniture, all the boxes are stacked in the garage. What a mess of boxes. Ugh. Everything went smoothly for the most part. But, I've had enough moving for the rest of my life. My personal recommendation for people out there. . .leave most of it and buy new. At least we have construction dumpsters all around us to dispose of excess junk as we run across it.

Anyway, here's some pics from the move. Oh so exciting!

B-Day Gifts from Work

The "loot" from my fellow employees. I also got 3lbs of chocolate from Debra, but not in this shot. Posted by Picasa

A pic, just to post a pic!

Sorry, not much to say or show here. Haven't had time to do much. Here's a pic of the Virginia Creeper next to the Capital Building. Perfect red! Posted by Picasa

Life Has Been Boring - Just Paint

Wish I had more to post, but basically I have been doing very little of anything exciting. Debra and I had both been very sick. And one week after throwing off the first cold Debra has come down with another one. I'm just now starting to feel better and am very paranoid about catching yet another cold. My father has been helping me paint the house and has been really good in getting to the 24 high ceiling. I get creeped out being up there but he moves around like a monkey in a tree. Sorry about the boringness of the post. Maybe some ride pics later in the week if I stay healthy.

Painting - No Fun

We signed the papers on the new home. Final selling price was $400,600 which was considerably lower than where we started. The builder has been very fair with us. We are not going to move in until next week (most likely) except for moving the boxes we have already packed into the garage. We're trying to get the painting done first. Or at least as much as possible before the furniture is moved in. Debra and I were so sick over the weekend that we only managed to get one and a half rooms painted, the grout sealed in a couple of rooms, and the blinds up in the master and master bath. Being sick sucks big time.

A couple of comments on painting though. No matter how much the little gimmick painting accessories say that they make painting a breeze. . .they're lying! It still gets all over you and anywhere you really don't want it to go. But, like so many people, I fell into the trap of buying and trying a lot of these little helper tools. Oh well. Here's some pics of one room being painted. The colors didn't come out quite right. The darker color is really more of a sand color but the pics show a lot of mustard look due to the lighting.
