Washoe Lake Wetlands Trail

On the south end of Washoe Lake are some pretty new wetlands that have been created using a series of dikes and little locks to control water movement. The dikes form a trail network that zigzags all over the wetlands area. Lots and lots of wildlife running around down in these areas. One of the better hiking areas we've gone to lately as far as scenery and critters to look at. You have to go when there is a wind though in order to avoid the bugs. Either that or wear a lot of bug repellent. Great place to go though. Just park at the southend about a 1/2 mile east of the East Lake exit above Carson City. Look for the wooden deck stuck out in the swamps.

Mosquitos are zero when the wind is blowing. No bug problems at all. Nice place to hike, just need a breeze.
